Criminal Law ~ From a simple standpoint, criminal law is a set of rules and sanctions whereby an individual is held legally accountable for his or her actions that violate a penal code. Criminal matters deal with issues that need to be and will be investigated and may also require plea negotiations with the government. Burke, Miele & Golden, LLP deals with such matters on both the state and federal level. Personal Injury Law ~ These legal issues typically involve injury/injuries to someone’s physical or emotional self. This area of law also known as Tort Litigation, includes damages incurred to ones personal or business properties. Accidents involving pedestrians, vehicles, motorcycles and trucks, construction site or work place accidents as well as slip and fall accidents, may often be the result of one or more parties, improper conduct. This improper conduct, which is not purposeful or intended, is referred to in the law as negligence. Negligence can lead to injury, both minor and catastrophic. Negligent acts that result in a death are referred to as Wrongful Death cases. Negligence can be of a personal or corporate nature. Product Liability Law generally refers to negligence in the design, manufacture and/or sale of a dangerous or defective product. Product liability law applies to nearly every product from a complex industrial machine to a negligently designed toy or other household item. Both consumers and businesses can become victims of defective, dangerous or misrepresented products or machinery.

Medical Malpractice cases involve the professional negligence of a physician, hospital or other medical care facility or entity. These cases frequently involve very complex litigation. As in any litigation, it is crucial you choose an experienced attorney to represent you when negligence is involved. Negligence Law provides that persons whose negligent acts or failures to act cause injury to others, should be held accountable to the victim of their negligence or in the case of a wrongful death, to the survivors of the victim[s].
